Be A Nurse Educator

Are you an experienced registered nurse who would like to share your wealth of knowledge with men and women entering your profession? If so, we need nurses like you to become Clinical Scholars!

A Clinical Scholar is a Baccalaureate or higher level prepared registered nurse who works with a School of Nursing to instruct nursing students in a hospital setting. Clinical Scholars oversee students’ hands-on clinical instruction and evaluate their progress.

The Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence can help you take this important and satisfying step in your career. We offer 5-day “Faculty Development Seminars” designed to give you the skills and confidence you need to help train nursing students.

You’ll learn:

  • The roles and responsibilities of the clinical scholar
  • How to plan and manage a successful clinical rotation
  • How to identify student learning styles, and how to work with each
  • Legal and ethical issues that guide the clinical role
  • The role of technology in teaching and learning
  • How to handle difficult situations

The fee for the course is $150 and covers all supplies, course materials, and meals. Students who complete all 40 hours of the seminar will be eligible to receive nursing CE credit.

For more information about the Faculty Development Seminar, contact Linda Stewart, (303) 715-0343 ext. 17, or FacultyDevelopment@ColoradoNursingCenter.org.

Here’s what some of the participants in our courses have had to say:

This has been one of the “best” (if not the best) experiences of my professional career. Thank you!

Wow!  I feel very honored to have had the opportunity to participate.  The level of scholar and experience was incredible and inspiring.  The overall content was given as essential foundation to success as a clinical scholar.  I believe the program, tools and info presented help to create empowered, successful, passionate clinical scholars who can act as role models for students and for staff.  I think it’s a great way to head-off our nursing shortage by capitalizing on the passion and expertise of nurses at the bedside.  Thanks.  You were all inspirational and are fabulous role models!
