On behalf of my fellow Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence Board members, it is my privilege to announce that Dr. Karren Kowalski, PhD, RN, FAAN has accepted our invitation to serve as the Center's President and Chief Executive Officer on a permanent basis, effective immediately.
Karren is well respected in Colorado and nationally as a thoughtful leader, educator and passionate advocate for nursing. She has been an important part of the Center’s work for years and her service as interim CEO only emphasized how ready she is to lead and how fortunate the Center is to have her commitment and many skills.
Karren's experience ranges from a surgical hospital in Vietnam to Director of Women's and Childrens Services at Presbyterian St. Lukes to leading a range of innovative nursing leadership programs for the Center.

We are very pleased that Karren has accepted this position. We continue to be excited about the future of the Center and the contributions that it is making to the future of nursing and health care in Colorado.
